Project Description:

Studio Kilab had the distinct honor of collaborating with NIFT Srinagar to design and manufacture a unique memento for their esteemed institution. We aimed to create a piece that not only captured the essence of NIFT’s spirit but also celebrated the rich heritage of Kashmiri craft.

Design Concept:

Our design centered around creating beautiful clocks handcrafted from papier-mâché, a traditional Kashmiri art form known for its intricate details and vibrant colors. Each clock was adorned with delicate Nakashi painting, featuring intricate floral and geometric patterns that reflect the region’s artistic legacy. In the center, the iconic NIFT logo stood proudly, signifying the institute’s identity and values.

Key Features:

• Sustainable materials: The use of papier-mâché, a recycled paper-based material, aligned with NIFT’s commitment to sustainability.

• Handcrafted artistry: Each clock was meticulously crafted by skilled Kashmiri artisans, showcasing their talent and preserving heritage.

• Functional and symbolic: The clocks served as a practical memento while also symbolizing Studio kilab’s dedication to design, tradition, and cultural preservation.
